We’re passionate about soil! We formulated Better Naturally products to help your soil be as healthy, rich and fertile as it can possibly be, with a special mix of biological ingredients, soil conditioners and nutrients.
Beneficial Microbes
The word "microbe" comes from the Greek mikros meaning "small" and bios meaning "life," so a microbe is literally a small life. As the name implies, microbes are tiny life forms – invisible to the naked eye. They can be harmful, like E. coli, or they can be beneficial, like the vast array of microbes contained in Better Naturally.
Beneficial microbes help break down nutrients into forms your plants can use. They also edge out harmful microbes; promote nutrient uptake; encourage root and plant growth; and help your plants resist diseases and pests. In fact, some of these microbes actually break down the eggs of invasive pests!
Mycorrhizal Fungi
Fungi are unique organisms that used to be classified as plants but now have their own kingdom. They include yeasts, molds and mushrooms. Fungi can be parasitic, such as the mold that grows on spoiled food, or symbiotic, such as the plant-friendly Mycorrhizal fungi (Mycorrhizal is Greek for "roots" and fungi is Latin for "mushrooms") included in Better Naturally.
Mycorrhizal fungi promote soil fertility (even in sandy soil), encourage photosynthesis and strengthen your plants’ resistance. These fungi create massive webs that serve as extensions of your plants’ roots, improving their ability to draw water from the soil and resist drought.
Humates
"Humate" comes from the Latin word "humus," which means "earth" or "ground." That's fitting, because humates are decomposed prehistoric organic plant and animal matter that are rich in a broad spectrum of trace elements needed for plant growth.
Humates physically modify soil structure and texture by reducing soil compaction. This increases your plants' ability to retain water, which means you don't have to water as often.
